Hug it out: Ronda Rousey talks about her new 'Entourage' movie role

Ronda Rousey is just two weeks away from her next title defense of the UFC women's bantamweight belt in a bout against Sara McMann at UFC 170, but pretty soon she'll be squaring off with Vincent Chase, Johnny Drama, E, Turtle and Ari Gold as part of the cast for the new "Entourage" movie.

Rousey recently signed on to star in the film as one of the female leads as part of two-picture deal with Warner Bros. Studios. The 'Entourage' movie is a continuation of the popular HBO series loosely based on the life of Mark Wahlberg that ran for eight seasons.

The UFC's reigning women's champion took time out of her training schedule to meet with her new cast members briefly last week and even snapped a photo with Jerry Ferrera, who plays Turtle in the movie. Rousey joins UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell as a guest star in the Entourage family after he appeared in an episode during season three of the series.

Rousey admitted until just recently she had never actually watched "Entourage." But following her binge addiction to "The Big Bang Theory" she was looking for a new show to watch and since "Breaking Bad" was a little too depressing, she decided to watch Vincent Chase and the boys romp through Hollywood.

During the time she started going through the seasons, Rousey got the call about the "Entourage" movie and it was almost as if she was fated to land the role.

"We ran through a couple of shows and we wanted to find something light-hearted, and I was like 'I've never seen 'Entourage,' everyone's been talking about 'Entourage' for years, and I've never seen a single episode of Entourage.' Let's start watching it,' " Rousey said on Monday. "Being as I don't watch anything at all, this was the only show I was watching and I was on like the third season when I actually got word about the movie. I was like, 'I just manifested the sh*t out of that!' Oh my god, I didn't even know there was a movie!"

Unlike her experience filming "The Expendables 3," which forced Rousey to live in Bulgaria for several weeks, being a part of "Entourage" will actually keep her close to home. The upcoming project will be filmed in Los Angeles, which is where the show was also based, and it just happens to be where Rousey lives. Following her fight with McMann on Feb. 22, she will take a couple of weeks off and then head to the set to begin filming her part on "Entourage."

"It starts in the middle of March. I probably won't have to be on call for a bunch of months and luckily it's in Los Angeles so I'll be able to be home and not go anywhere. I'll be able to train all the way through it, and it will be minimally inconvenient," Rousey said.

Rousey was quick to shut down the questions about her character in the upcoming movie because as anyone who watches the show knows, celebrity guests often appear as themselves — or at least an exaggerated version of themselves — just ask Seth Green.

The only way we'll know for sure is to go see "Entourage" when it opens next year.

"I think you should watch that movie," Rousey said.

The former Olympic bronze medalist didn't want to spend too much time talking about the film given her title fight in two weeks, but she promised once the fight was over she's turn her focus back on acting, which has become a fun hobby in between title defenses.

"I have been avoiding talking about movies for so long that I almost feel uncomfortable about it," Rousey said. "It'll definitely have all my focus later on, but right now it's more of a peripheral thing that's going on and I'm trying really not to devote that much attention to it."
