Harness driver Yannick Gingras reaches 3,000 wins

Harness driver Yannick Gingras picked up the 3,000th win of his career in the first race Wednesday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Gingras wired the field with 2-1 favorite Income De Vie.

The 30-year-old Quebec native is currently fifth in the Meadowlands driver standings and has ranked in the Top 10 each year since joining the local driving colony in 2004.

He won $9 million in purses for the third straight year in 2009, placing him eighth among all drivers in North America.

A third-generation horseman, Gingras got his first win in 1998 and was voted the sport's 2003 Rising Star Award winner by the U.S. Harness Writers Association.
