Hamstring injury lands Brewers' Gomez on DL
Center fielder Carlos Gomez became the latest Milwaukee Brewers player to succumb to the injury bug Friday night, and manager Ron Roenicke told reporters Saturday that Gomez will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Gomez was injured rounding first base Friday night in a 6-4 win at San Francisco, and he left the game the next inning. He was replaced in the lineup by outfielder Norichika Aoki, who will be the likely replacement in the team's center field platoon during Gomez's absence.
Other injured Brewers on the DL are pitchers Chris Narveson and Brandon Kintzler and first baseman Mat Gamel as the team's injuries have piled up in recent weeks.
The Brewers are expected to call up an infielder rather than an outfielder, as Roenicke remains confident in the team's outfield depth.
The team did get some good news Saturday, as left fielder Ryan Braun returned from a sore Achilles' tendon after having missed only one full game. He returns to the batting order in his usual No. 3 spot. Right fielder Corey Hart moved back to the fifth slot.
