Hamilton continues to impress

Mark Hamilton went 2-for-4 with an RBI double Tuesday to give him hits in both of the first two games this spring.
 
The left-handed hitting Hamilton, who is trying to win a spot on the Cardinals bench as a utility player, started at first base Tuesday and singled off Mets starter Johan Santana in the second inning.
 
He then doubled in a run on a shot to left-center in the fifth inning.
 
"I think it's huge, especially the first one off Santana and hitting the ball the other way" said manager Mike Matheny. "I certainly like the way he's swinging the bat, making the most of the opportunity."
