Halo Dolly wins Dream of Summer at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Halo Dolly led all the way in winning the $100,000 Dream of Summer Stakes for older fillies and mares bred or sired in California by 1 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita on Sunday.

Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Halo Dolly ran 1 mile in 1:35.73 and paid $7.60, $2.60 and $2.20 as the 5-2 second choice.

''She came away so good, he just went on with it,'' said Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who co-owns the winner. ''That's why we pick the riders we do, so they can make good decisions.''

Unusual Way returned $2.10 and $2.10 as the 1-2 favorite after stumbling leaving the gate, while Could Be Trouble was another 6 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $2.60 to show.

The victory, worth $60,000, increased Halo Dolly's career earnings to $982,316, with 18 wins in 37 starts.
