Gophers guard Ahmad Gilbert to transfer

The University of Minnesota announced Tuesday that sophomore guard Ahmad Gilbert Jr. intends to transfer after appearing in 36 games for the Gophers over the last two seasons.

“Ahmad has been a consummate teammate throughout his time here, and a big part of our team’s success,” Pitino said in a statement. “His energy and spirit both on and off the court have been extremely valuable to me and our team."

Gilbert started just six games during his Gophers career, averaging 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, and will have two years of eligibility remaining once he transfers.
