Gophers edge Northeastern to complete weekend sweep
Hudson Fasching scored a pair of goals to propel the Minnesota men's hockey squad past Northeastern on Saturday night, 4-3, at Mariucci Arena.
The win gave the No. 19 Gophers (2-3-0 overall) their first series sweep of the 2015-16 campaign, a fact that delighted the partisan crowd of 9,072 in Minneapolis.
Minnesota also got a three-point night from Michael Brodzinski, along with Nick Seeler's first point in a Gophers sweater. Additionally, Leon Bristedt and Justin Kloos registered two-point nights in the Minnesota win.
The host Gophers outshot the Huskies (1-4-0 overall) by a 32-28 margin. The visitors were saddled with seven penalties, for 14 minutes.
Minnesota now enjoys a lengthy layoff before returning to action at Notre Dame on Nov. 6.
