Gophers blast Penn State 7-1 on the road
Just hours after falling in overtime at Penn State's Pegula Ice Arena, Minnesota responded in a big way, scoring early and often as the Gophers picked up a 7-1 win over the Nittany Lions on Saturday.
Justin Kloos racked up four points, while Hudson Fasching scored a pair of shorthanded goals, as the Gophers racked up a 2-0 lead in the first period.
Tyler Sheehy made it 3-0 early in the second period, before Vinni Lettieri, Kloos and Fasching scored in the third period to make it 6-0.
Penn State's Vince Pedrie spoiled Gophers goaltender Eric Schierhorn's shutout bid at 16:21 of the third period, before Minnesota's Ryan Norman scored Minnesota's final goal just over a minute later.
Now 5-5 in their last 10 games, the Gophers return to action next weekend, when they return home to take on last-place Michigan State.
