Gladiators clinch playoff berth in dramatic fashion

The Cleveland Gladiators clinched an Arena Football League playoff berth in dramatic fashion Saturday night with a one-point victory delivered by a successful Hail Mary touchdown pass as time expired.

Former Cincinnati Bearcat and Colerain Cardinal Dominick Goodman hauled in a deflected pass and scooted across the goal line to put the Gladiators on top of the Philadelphia Soul 69-68. It was the 11th touchdown pass of the night for Shane Austin, who let go of the pass from his own end zone.

Goodman caught 10 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns on the night while Thyron Lewis led the way with 172 yards and four scores on eight catches.

The Gladiators improved to 12-1 and continue to lead the East division of the American Conference with four games to play in the regular season.
