Giovinco, Keane, Kamara lead MLS Best XI
Fullbacks were once again persona non grata in the MLS Best XI, but a defensive midfielder did get some love.
MLS unveiled an unsurprising 2015 all-league squad Sunday, with league veterans Dax McCarty and Fabian Castillo joining the more illustrious likes of Sebastian Giovinco and Robbie Keane.
Luis Robles, the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, got the nod between the posts, while Defender of the Year finalists Laurent Ciman, Kendall Waston and Matt Hedges predictably comprised a three-man back line. The Best XI featured no fullbacks for the fourth straight year.
Reigning MLS MVP Keane joins 2015 finalists Giovinco, Kei Kamara and Benny Feilhaber in the attack, with holding midfielder McCarty and wingers Castillo and Ethan Finlay rounding out the squad. Keane is the only repeat selection on this year's team.
Here is the MLS Best XI in full:
Luis Robles (New York Red Bulls); Matt Hedges (FC Dallas), Kendall Waston (Vancouver Whitecaps), Laurent Ciman (Montreal Impact); Ethan Finlay (Columbus Crew), Dax McCarty (New York Red Bulls), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Fabian Castillo (FC Dallas); Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy), Kei Kamara (Columbus Crew), Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC)
