Gators move up to No. 2 in AP Top 25

Florida has moved up to second in the AP college basketball poll released Monday.

The Gators (23-2), who won at Kentucky on Saturday, moved up from third and received a first-place vote.

Senior forward Casey Prather scored 24 points on 8-for-9 shooting to lead Florida to a 69-59 victory at Rupp Hall. Senior point guard Scottie Wilbekin, a contender for Southeastern Player of the Year, had 23 points and hit 11 of 12 free throws.

Kentucky (19-6) fell from 14th to 18th.

Syracuse remained No. 1 for a third straight week. The Orange (25-0), who won two games in the final seconds last week, received 64 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel. They were a unanimous choice the past two weeks.

Wichita State (27-0), the only other unbeaten Division I team, move from fourth to third. Arizona, which lost to Arizona State last week, dropped from second to fourth.

Duke moved from eighth to fifth and was followed by San Diego State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Villanova and Saint Louis.

UCLA, at No. 23, and Gonzaga, at No. 25, return to the rankings replacing SMU and Pittsburgh.
