García, Cabrera and more optioned as Cards trim camp roster to 55

The Cardinals are trimming their spring training roster by 10 as Opening Day approaches.

Pitchers Génesis Cabrera, Giovanny Gallegos, Ryan Helsley, infielder Edmundo Sosa and outfielder Adolis García were all sent down to the Memphis (AAA) roster.

The team also re-assigned non-roster pitchers Seth Elledge, Evan Kruczynski, Williams Pérez and catchers Dennis Ortega and Julio Rodríguez to minor league camp.

The Cardinals now have 55 players on their spring training roster, including 35 roster players.
