'Friday Night Lights' event yields 2 more Ohio State verbal commits

Ohio State's big summer of recruiting continued Friday night with two more verbal commitments for the 2015 class.

Four-star tight end Josh Moore of Olathe (Kans.) North was the first to make the call only to be followed shortly thereafter by Joshua Alabi, a three-star defensive end from Detroit Cass Tech.

Both pulled the trigger while visiting Ohio State for its annual "Friday Night Lights" recruiting camp at Ohio Stadium.

Moore fills a need for the Buckeyes, who did not yet have a tight end in the 2015 class and have only three scholarship players at that position scheduled to be on the roster after this season, one of whom is a senior in 2015.

Alabi's commitment is the second in two years for Ohio State from a school long considered a pipeline for archrival Michigan, joining 2014 four-star cornerback Damon Webb. The last OSU Cass Tech signee before Webb was Vernon Gholston in 2004.

The Friday Night Lights camp gave Ohio State coaches the chance to show off Ohio Stadium -- including newly installed permanent lights, a new field and ongoing renovations -- to numerous recruits from Ohio and beyond, including four-star quarterback Torrance Gibson of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage School.

By all accounts, the visit went very well for Gibson and paid immediate dividends for Ohio State's efforts to add him to its 2015 class.

FNL was also an opportunity for Eric Glover-Williams, a four-star running back from Canton McKinley who was the first verbal commitment of the 2015 class, to make his first visit to Ohio State since some reported off-the-field issues raised questions about whether or not he would continue to be a part of the Buckeyes' class.

Ohio State has 14 verbal commitments for 2014 with 12 coming since Athens quarterback Joey Burrow gave his pledge at the end of May.
