FOX survivor football picks for Week 13
Survive and advance is a popular sports mantra normally saved for the month of March and the madness that comes with it.
But thanks to the rapid growth of the NFL and fantasy football, games like FOX Fantasy Survivor can feed your craving for “win or go home” competition seven months early.
Thousands of football fans signed up and participated in the FOX Fantasy Survivor game last season. The hope is, with cash prizes on the line, we can eclipse that mark in 2011.
The premise is simple: pick one (1) team who you believe is going to win that week. The survivor catch remains that once you pick a team to win, you can’t pick that team again for the rest of the season. The good news is, even if you lose, you are still eligible to win cash prizes.
To assist you with your survivor selections, the FOXSports.com’s fantasy football staff will provide you their picks for the week.
Just remember the mantra: survive and advance. In a couple months, you could be $2,000 richer.
Week 12 Recap
It took 12 weeks into the season, but I, Fowler, finally did the unthinkable. I picked a survivor team twice.
FAIL
I’d like to blame my selection of the New York Jets on the tryptophan, but no turkey had been consumed when last week’s article was crafted and published. What’s even more embarrassing is that out of my 32 options, I elected to pick the Jets – the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the NFL – twice. All things being fair, I’m marking my miscue down as a loss.
Harmon, Beall and Halpin all played by the rules and won in Week 12. As expected Cedric Benson ran over the Browns, Cam Newton, DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart ran over the Colts and Matt Ryan finally got on the same page with Roddy White as the Falcons beat the ADP-less Vikings by 10.
On to Week 13’s picks ...
Week 13 Picks
Harmon, Halpin and Fowler – Patriots
Las Vegas likes New England to win by not one, not two, but THREE touchdowns this Sunday. The Dan Orlovsky fan club is up in arms about this! Indianapolis fired a coach and promoted their back-up quarterback as they shake things up heading into a lopsided matchup against their rival.
What’s surprising is that this trio of “experts” managed to hold out until Week 13 before selecting Tom Brady and company. As easily as Brady could win this game with his arm, look for BenJarvus to chew up the Colts on the ground for over 100 yards and a score.
Beall – 49ers
The Rams need Steven Jackson (and his offensive line) to produce in order to beat San Francisco. Sam Bradford can only pass to Brandon Lloyd so often before that window gets slammed shut. However, S-Jax has endured back-to-back stinkers on the ground to the tune of 32 carries for 106 yards. Those paltry numbers should shrink against the top rush defense in the NFL who has yet to allow a rushing touchdown.
With Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter poised to attack the Swiss cheese Rams’ defense, coach Harbaugh should bounce back from the tough loss to Baltimore.
