FOX Sports Wisconsin Midweek Stock Report for Sept. 16

Every Wednesday, FOX Sports Wisconsin takes a look at which athletes' stock is trending up and whose is trending down.

In other words, who is making a meteoric rise, and who is plummeting.

With that in mind, let's "take stock" of the current sports scene in Wisconsin, shall we?

UW-Oshkosh's offense

UW-Oshkosh, ranked No. 20 in college football's Division III ranks by D3football.com, went on a scoring spree last Saturday, in an epic rout of Finlandia University. The Titans scored the most points in their program's history in their 86-0 whitewash of Finlandia, as 11 different Titans scored touchdowns at J.J. Keller Field. UW-Oshkosh (1-1) racked up 567 yards while limiting Finlandia to 69 total yards. Oshkosh's point-total was the largest by a WIAC team in a single game since 1921.

James Jones

So far, so good for Jones' reunion tour with the Packers. The veteran receiver was targeted four times by Aaron Rodgers in Sunday's 31-23 win against the rival Bears, resulting in four receptions for 51 yards and, most importantly, two scoring strikes. Jones had a long reception of 34 yards, and his 13-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter got Green Bay's offense jump-started, handing the Packers an early 7-3 lead.

Julius Peppers

Peppers punished his former club, Chicago, producing four solo tackles and 1.5 sacks in Green Bay's win at Soldier Field. You know that had to feel good for the 35-year-old outside linebacker, who played for Chicago from 2010-13. Peppers, a three-time, first-team All-Pro, made three Pro Bowls during his time with the Bears.

Packers run defense

This sums up the shaky performance by Green Bay's rush defense last Sunday: Jay Cutler -- hardly known for his breakaway speed -- averaged 7.8 yards on four carries. Matt Forte was a bigger problem for the Packers, churning out 141 yards and one touchdown on the ground. All told, Chicago racked up 189 rushing yards.

Tyler Cravy

The 26-year-old Brewers righty hasn't gotten many breaks during a season which has him saddled with an 0-6 record and 6.16 ERA in 30 2/3 innings of major-league action. Cravy returned recently after being sidelined by an elbow injury and, in the past week, made two appearances that encompassed 2 2/3 forgettable innings. Cravy, who took a loss at Miami on Sept. 9, has seen big-league opponents hit .306 against him this season.

Sam Barrington

Barrington, 24, was dealt a tough blow on Tuesday, when he was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, ending his 2015 campaign after just one game. Obviously, that's an unfortunate event for a Packers defense that surrendered 5.7 yards per rush attempt last Sunday against the Bears. The inside linebacker had 45 tackles and a sack last season, in 14 games played. Barrington vows to return with a vengeance in 2016.
