FOX Sports Southwest wins four Lone Star Emmys
FOX Sports Southwest received four Emmys at the 13th annual Lone Star Emmy Awards Saturday in Austin. The awards recognize broadcast excellence in Texas and are presented by the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
The four wins brings FOX Sports Southwest's Lone Star Emmy total to 60 since the inception of the awards.
FOX Sports Southwest was presented gold statues for on-camera talent, live event coverage and original programming.
"To be recognized by your peers is quite an honor and reflects the creativity of our talented staff," said FOX Sports Southwest Senior Vice President and General Manager Jon Heidtke. "I'm extremely proud of the high-quality of work we consistently achieve to produce the best sports programming in the state and region."
For the fourth consecutive year and seventh time overall, FOX Sports Southwest announcers were recognized as the state's top analyst and play-by-play team as Stars analyst Daryl Reaugh and former play-by-play voice Ralph Strangis picked up the Emmy as the top sports broadcasting team. It marked the sixth time the Stars duo won the award.
FOX Sports Southwest's coverage of the Dallas Mavericks' win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Martin Luther King Day last season that featured footage of the team's visit to the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis earned an Emmy for live sports event. It was the 11th time FOX Sports Southwest took home the award in the live sports category.
Two Texas Rangers programs and stories produced by FOX Sports Southwest also were recognized with Emmys.
The network's RANGERS LIVE pregame show on Memorial Day that included "Warriors Among Us" vignettes and other features on local military heroes was honored for Sports Special, and an inspirational story on Rangers super fan Dawn Shepard earned an Emmy for Sports Story.
