Former UM star Tommy Streeter headlines Dolphins' practice squad

With an eye towards the future, the Miami Dolphins signed former University of Miami star Tommy Streeter to their 10-man practice squad, as announced Sunday.

Streeter was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week after spending 2013 on their practice squad. The 6-foot-5 wide receiver, who led the Hurricanes in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in 2011, was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2012 Draft but was subsequently placed on injury reserve with a foot injury.

Reserve quarterback Seth Lobato, who signed with the Dolphins earlier in training camp and was featured in all four of their preseason games, has also been included on their practice squad.

Also returning is Miami's sixth-round draft pick, Matt Hazel, who scored a touchdown and caught six passes for 87 yards in the preseason. He could not crack a deep and talented wide receiver corps.

The Dolphins retained center Sam Brenner, offensive tackle Tony Hill, defensive tackle Garrison Smith and defensive end De'Aundre Reed. All cleared waivers after being cut by the team on Saturday. They also signed newcomers cornerback Lowell Rose, linebacker David Hinds and tight end Jacob Maxwell to complete their squad.
