Former Stanford forward Rimmer Schuyler joins Florida as walk-on

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida has added former Stanford forward Schuyler Rimmer as a walk-on.

The 6-foot-10 Rimmer left Stanford in December, after scoring eight points in 16 games. He landed in Gainesville, considerably closer to his home in Orlando.

As a mid-year transfer, Rimmer is allowed to practice with the Gators. He won't be eligible to compete until the end of the fall 2015 semester.

Rimmer will be one of two transfers joining Florida's front court next season, with former South Florida center John Egbunu being the other. Florida also has national letters of intent from big men Noah Dickerson and Kevarrius Hayes.

Rimmer gives coach Billy Donovan six transfers on his roster, including Egbunu, Dorian Finney-Smith (Virginia Tech), Eli Carter (Rutgers), Jon Horford (Michigan) and Alex Murphy (Duke).
