Flyers, Buckeyes drop Sunday matinees to ranked foes

No. 19 Michigan St beats No. 23 Dayton 96-89 in OT

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Tori Jankoska and Aerial Powers each scored 24 points as No. 19 Michigan State outlasted No. 23 Dayton in overtime 96-89 on Sunday.

The Spartans (2-1) trailed by two late in regulation, but Powers hit a layup with nine seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.







Following an Ally Malott 3-pointer to cut Dayton's deficit to one, Michigan State scored six straight points as Jankoska hit a layup to make the score 89-82 in overtime.

Malott hit another triple to pull within four, but Annalise Pickrel made a free throw and Klarissa Bell added two late ones to seal the win.

Pickrel finished with 21 points and Kiana Johnson had 14 for the Spartans. Jankoska grabbed nine rebounds, and Powers and Pickrel each hauled in seven.

Andrea Hoover led the Flyers (2-2) with 25 points and Malott added 19 with a game-high 15 boards.


No. 24 Georgia holds off Ohio State 53-49

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- Erika Ford scored 13 points and Khaalidah Miller 12 as No. 24 Georgia held off Ohio State 53-49 on Sunday in a meeting of unbeaten NCAA Tournament regulars.

Miller hit three of her team's five 3-pointers, including one at 2:19 that extended Georgia lead to 51-45. Ohio State's Raven Ferguson scored a putback after an offensive rebound and Ameryst Alston made two free throws in the final minutes, but the Buckeyes could not get closer than four.

Alston scored a game-high 22 points for the Buckeyes (3-1), including six points in the final 6:45. She and Darryce Moore each scored early as Ohio State led 7-1, and were up 33-29 at the half on an Alston 3-pointer.

Krista Donald and Miller combined for seven points in one-minute flurry to put the Lady Bulldogs up for good at 40-33 with 16:12 to play. Donald finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds.
