Father of Michigan's Brady Hoke passes away
John Hoke, father of Michigan football coach Brady Hoke, died Monday, according to a university spokesman.
John Hoke, 80, had a strong connection to Big Ten football. He played with Bo Schembechler at Miami University in the 1950s when Woody Hayes was the coach. Schembechler was still active with the Michigan football program when Brady Hoke was hired as Gary Moeller's defensive end coach in 1995.
Brady Hoke took the Wolverines to the Sugar Bowl in his first season after replacing Rich Rodriguez in early 2011. The team is currently in its second week of spring practice, with the spring game scheduled for April 14.
No further details on John Hoke's passing were released.
