Fantasy Football: Eli Manning Week 2 Projection
Fantasy football Week 2 is here, and the New York Giants will have one of the best matchups of the week against the New Orleans Saints.
Like last season, the New York Giants have one of the best offenses in the NFL to utilize players in for fantasy football. Quarterback Eli Manning and wide receiver Odell Beckham are two of the best at their respective positions in the NFL.
In Week 2 against the Saints, Manning is poised for a great day. In the Giants’ win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, Manning had a nice game for fantasy owners. Against the Cowboys, he totaled 207 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
As expected, the Cowboys did an excellent job controlling the clock in the loss, as they controlled the ball for 36 minutes. Dallas being in ball control mode with Dak Prescott did limit what the Giants offense could do, but it was still a solid showing for Manning.
Manning’s Week 2 opponent is coming off of a dream game for fantasy owners. In the Saints’ first game there were a combined 69 points scored. In the Oakland Raiders’ win, quarterback Derek Carr was able to have a great game through the air against the Saints’ defense. Carr totaled 319 passing yards and one passing touchdown.
While it would have been nice for fantasy owners of Carr to see a few more touchdown passes, the opportunities were certainly there. The Raiders had no problem moving the ball through the air and on the ground. For the Giants, they should also be able to move the ball with relative easy against the Saints. Furthermore, the Giants’ wide receiver corps looked very good against the Cowboys. Having Manning with talented weapons around him should be a recipe for a big day.
Finally, Manning should certainly be in you starting lineup in Week 2 against the Saints. He has the potential to be the highest scoring quarterback of the week in this cupcake matchup.
Projection: 310 passing yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions.
