EXTRA POINTS: OSU pulls away from Michigan in second half

'THE GAME'

In the 112th meeting between Michigan and Ohio State, the Buckeyes scored 28 points in the second half to pull away for a 42-13 victory over the Wolverines. OSU had a season-high 371 rushing yards and running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback J.T. Barrett combined for five rushing touchdowns.

The Wolverines are now 58-48-6 all-time against the Buckeyes and fell to 23-19-3 in Ann Arbor.

RUDOCK'S RECORD

With 263 passing yards in Saturday's loss, Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock passed coach Jim Harbaugh and Tom Brady for fifth-most passing yards in a single season in school history. Rudock, a graduate transfer from Iowa, finished the regular season with 2,739 passing yards.

Rudock left the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury and did not return.  

RED ZONE WOES

Heading into Saturday's matchup with the Buckeyes, the Wolverines had allowed just five rushing touchdowns in its first 11 games. OSU scored three rushing touchdowns on its first three possessions and five overall.

CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES

With the loss, Michigan's hopes of reaching its first Big Ten Championship game were stifled. The Wolverines needed a win over OSU and a Penn State victory over Michigan State to clinch a berth to the championship game.

NEXT STEP

The Wolverines finished the regular season with a 9-3 record, which included signature victories over No. 22 BYU and No. 13 Northwestern. Michigan will have to wait until the bowl selection show next Sunday, Dec. 6 to find out its bowl-game invitation.
