FOX Sports San Diego to Extend Coverage of Padres Opening Day
Extended Pregame Show to Feature Padres Ownership, Mayor Filner and Opening Ceremonies
San Diego – FOX Sports San Diego (FSSD) will celebrate Tuesday’s 2013 Padres Opening Day against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a special extended hour and a half Padres Live pregame show starting at 2:00 PM PST.
The pregame show, hosted by Mike Pomeranz and Mark Sweeney, will feature interviews with Mayor Bob Filner and Padres owners Ron Fowler and Peter Seidler. Leading into first pitch will be live coverage of the Padres on-field Opening Day ceremonies emceed by Hall of Fame broadcaster and Padres play-by-play announcer Dick Enberg.
Following are features of the Padres Opening Day Ceremonies televised live on FSSD:
- National Anthem performance by San Diego singer/songwriter and Miss California 2010 Arianna Afsar
- Unfurling of the Holiday Bowl Big Flag held by sailors from the USS Russell and the USS Boxer
- Flyover of two San Diego Police Department helicopters
- Ceremonial First Pitch thrown by Greg Vaughn, MVP of the 1998 National League Champion Padres, and caught by fellow 1998 alum and Padres Spanish television analyst Carlos Hernandez
- Tribute to Darrel Akerfelds featuring Padres All-Time Saves Leader Trevor Hoffman
FOX Sports San Diego’s live game coverage of Padres vs. Dodgers, called by Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Enberg and former Padres pitcher Mark Grant, begins at 3:40 PM PST. Padres fans can tune into FSSD early to catch more Padres programming beginning at 1:00 PM PST with Padres POV hosted by Megan Olivi and at 1:30 PM PST with Padres Weekly hosted by Kelly Crull.
