Duvall, Mahle named Minor League Players of the Month for July

Cincinnati Reds prospects Tyler Mahle and Adam Duvall were named Minor League Players of the Month for July. 

Two of the prospects the Cincinnati Reds received in their July trades are performing well in the minors.

With the Reds Single A affiliate, Mahle went 4-0 with a league-leading 0.58 ERA in five starts to win the Midwest League Player of the Month honors for July. Mahle held opponents to a .183 average, allowing just 20 hits and five walks over 31.0 IP.

Mahle is the No. 30 overall prospects in the Reds system per MLB Pipeline. Mahle was the Reds seventh-round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. For the season, Mahle is 11-6 with a 2.53 ERA in 21 starts, striking out 115 and walking just 18.

Duvall was acquired by the Reds in the Mike Leake trade on July 31. With the San Francisco Giants Triple A affiliate in July, Duvall led the Pacific Coast League with 10 homers and 31 RBI, was second in the league with 18 extra-base hits and fourth in slugging, .704, and OPS, 1.082.

Since being traded to the Reds, Duvall is hitting .182 with a .229 OBP and .485 SLG with the Reds Triple A affiliate.
