Durant still recovering, Westbrook could return this week for OKC
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kevin Durant will be out at least another week, but Russell Westbrook could return as soon as Wednesday against Philadelphia.
Coach Scott Brooks said Durant will be re-evaluated in "a week or so," after undergoing a second surgery on his right foot Feb. 22. Durant has missed 33 games this season, more than half of the team's games. Durant will now miss Wednesday's game against the 76ers, Thursday in Chicago and Sunday against Toronto in Oklahoma City. It's possible Durant's first game back would be March 11 against the Clippers in Oklahoma City.
Meanwhile, Brooks said Westbrook participated in most of practice Tuesday in Oklahoma City wearing a clear mask.
"We'll see how he feels tomorrow," Brooks said. "He looked good today."
Center Steven Adams participated in practice for the first time since fracturing his right hand on Feb. 8. Adams was also lively in an impromptu one-on-one game with Serge Ibaka after practice. Adams has been wearing a fingerless glove on his right hand.
Westbrook's condition is good news for the Thunder. Teammate Andre Roberson's knee hit Westbrook in the side of the head Friday night in the closing seconds against Portland. Westbrook missed Sunday's game against the Lakers.
"We'll see how he feels tomorrow," Brooks said repeatedly. "It's a little swollen."
Brooks said Westbrook will wear a clear mask and went on to say, "Fortunately for all of us, Russell won't be able to choose the color of his mask."
