Ducks star Corey Perry earns NHL's First Star for Month honors

Anaheim right wing Corey Perry has been named the NHL's First Star for the Month of October (Player of the Month) makring the sixth time in franchise history that a Ducks player has won the award.

Perry, who previously was honored in March of 2011 for the same award, led the NHL in goals (10) in October while helping the Ducks to a 9-3-0 record during the month.

Perry's 10 goals in the first 12 games tied a franchise record (Paul Kariya, 1995-96) while he also became the sixth player in NHL history to record two hat tricks in the season's first seven games.

Other Ducks to win Player of the Month honors include Kariya (April, 1996; Jan., 1998) and Teemu Selanne (Feb., 1999; Nov., 2006).

The Ducks host the Islanders on Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. on Prime Ticket.
