Ducks deal G Andersen to Toronto in exchange for draft picks

In a stunning move on Monday, the Anaheim Ducks have parted ways with goalie Frederik Andersen.

The Ducks dealt Andersen to Toronto in exchange for the Maple Leafs' first-round pick (30th overall) in 2016 and a second-round selection in 2017.

The Ducks now have two first-round picks (24th and 30th) in this year's NHL Draft, which starts Friday.

"The picks add in value as you accrue them. I have no idea yet what's out there," said Ducks Executive Vice President and General Manager Bob Murray. "I haven't even thought about what to do in the market. There are some situations that we have to address on this team. We'll try to address them. This was a situation that just had to happen at this point in time. There was no avoiding it."

In 43 regular-season games with Anaheim in 2015-16, Andersen posted a 22-9-7 record with a 2.30 goals-against average an d a .919 save percentage.

In 125 career NHL games, Andersen is 77-26-12 after being selected in the third round (87th overall) by the Ducks in the 2012 Draft.
