Dolphins sign receiver Damian Williams to one-year deal

The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent wide receiver Damian Williams to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Williams, a third-round pick in 2010, played in 54 games (17 stars) the past four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. The 6-foot-3, 193-pounder caught 106 passes for 1,313 yards and five touchdowns. He started 13 games in 2011 but only three the last two seasons.

Williams will add depth behind starters Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline. Backups Brandon Gibson and Armon Binns will be returning from knee injuries suffered in 2013.

"I would like to welcome Damian Williams to the Miami Dolphins," general manager Dennis Hickey said. "Damian is a proven NFL player who brings with him talent and experience, both on offense and special teams, which will enhance a very talented and competitive receiving corps.

Williams began his college career at the University of Arkansas before to spending two seasons at the University of Southern California. Overall, he caught 147 passes for 2,114 yards and 17 touchdowns in 38 games.
