Dolphins safety Reshad Jones upset by Pro Bowl snub
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Miami Dolphins safety Reshad Jones was outspoken Wednesday in expressing indignation about being left off the Pro Bowl, while defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh declined to talk about his own disappointment.
"Next question," Suh said.
Suh, who made the Pro Bowl each of the past three years, was left off the squad announced Tuesday but chosen as an alternate. He's in the first year of a contract that made him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.
Jones was not among the five safeties chosen, even though he's the only NFL player with at least five interceptions and more than 100 tackles.
"We can't be going off play and production, because my numbers are double those guys' numbers," Jones said. "It was about social media and just being popular, just who has the biggest name."
Jones, who lobbied on Twitter to be chosen for the first time, was selected as an alternate.
The only Dolphins player named to the squad was center Mike Pouncey, who made the team for the third year in a row. Pouncey wore a boot on his sprained left foot Wednesday, but he said he hopes to play in the final two regular-season games, as well as the Pro Bowl.
Interim coach Dan Campbell said Jones and Suh both deserved to be picked. He said he was shocked Jones wasn't chosen.
"He put up good numbers, and he has been consistent all year," Campbell said.
