Dolphins part ways with assistant GM Brian Gaine
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- The Miami Dolphins and assistant general manager Brian Gaine have parted ways, a move that comes shortly after he did not get hired as the team's general manager.
Gaine was a candidate for the job that wound up going to Dennis Hickey, who was formally introduced by the team on Tuesday. Gaine's departure was announced less than 24 hours later.
Hickey says the move is ''in everyone's best interests going forward.''
Gaine spent six seasons in Miami, the first three as the assistant director of player personnel. He was promoted to oversee that department in April 2011, then promoted again to the assistant GM post in June 2012.
Gaine has also worked for the New York Jets and the Dallas Cowboys in his front-office career, which started in 1999.
