Dodgers sent Jake Arrieta the 60-pound pitching rubber from no-hitter mound
So there's an answer to a trivia question: a pitching rubber, at least one from Dodger Stadium, weighs approximately 60 pounds.
Los Angeles swallowed its pride from getting no-hit by Cubs righty Jake Arrieta on Sunday and sent him the actual pitching rubber from the stadium. Check out the bad boy on a scale:
Thx to the @Dodgers for taking the time to send us the pitching rubber along w/ other game mementos, it means a lot to my fam & I. #respect

The Dodgers also threw in some dirt from the mound as a souvenir but we wonder if L.A.'s ulterior motive was simply to eradicate the mound from its stadium and all traces of getting manhandled by opposing pitchers. Only nine days before Arrieta, the Houston Astros' Mike Fiers hurled a no-hitter against the Dodgers at Minute Maid Park.
Nevertheless, Arrieta appreciates the gesture and ought to have fun toting around his 24" slab weighing nearly two times the Stanley Cup.
