Dodgers' Puig trying to eliminate his trademark bat flip
Is this the end of an era?
Flamboyant LA Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig says he's trying to put an end to his signature bat flip, although there is a caveat.
After going deep against the Mariners on Monday for his first homer of the year, Puig intentionally kept things low-key.
"I want to show American baseball that I'm not disrespecting the game," he said. "I don't do that because I lack respect. I do that because of the emotions that I have."
The slugger was not ready to completely close the door on giving the lumber a toss every now and then, though.
"If it's a big home run or if I'm frustrated because I couldn't connect in my previous at-bats or if I drive in important runs for my team, I might do it. You never know. I can't say I won't do it."
In case you still need a dose or two of Puig's classic bat flips from the past, enjoy this . . .
