Determined fan jumps rail, ditches beer and loses phone in pursuit of foul ball
When a fan at the Royals-Indians game on Tuesday saw an opportunity to snag a foul ball, he showed a dogged determination to capture it, losing his cell phone and beer in the process.
The fan tracked the ball along the left field line, then without hesitation he hopped the railing using one arm while holding a beer in his free hand, clearing both the rail and one full row. It was a pretty impressive move. The nearby fan wearing a red hoodie didn't even attempt to impede the man's pursuit -- he recognized greatness and just applauded.
"That was like the Texas Rangers signing Alex Rodriguez" the announcer said. "Competing with nobody."
Was it worth it? Maybe not financially if that cell phone is broken, but now he's got a souvenir with an incalculable amount of sentimental value. We salute you, sir.
