Denver routs Badgers hockey, 6-2

At Madison, the Wisconsin men's hockey squad was no match for No. 9 Denver on Saturday night, leading to a 6-2 Badgers loss.

After falling behind 4-0 a little more than halfway through the second period, the Badgers (3-5-4, 0-0-0-0 Big Ten) tried to mount their biggest comeback of the season, to no avail. Wisconsin scored twice in the final three minutes of the second period, but could never claw any closer.

"I think this was the first night in a long time, we've played 12 games now, that we can say, 'We didn't take a step forward, or half a step forward tonight,'" Wisconsin head coach Mike Eaves said.

Denver improved to 7-3-2 with its resounding win.

Wisconsin goalie Matt Jurusik finished with 37 saves.

"What's really important now is how we respond to the things that happened tonight and we have another couple weeks here to work on that," Eaves said.

Wisconsin has a bye week next weekend before returning to action on Dec. 4-5 when it heads to Michigan to open Big Ten play.
