D-backs' Pollock plays in first game since April elbow surgery
Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock started his path back to majors on Friday night in a rookie-level Arizona League game at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
In his first game since he had major surgery on his right elbow in April, Pollock served as the designated hitter and went 1 for 4 against the AZL Angels. Pollock laced a single into left field in his first at-bat.
Pollock is expected to DH again Sunday and then head out on a rehab assignment -- likely to Triple-A Reno or Double-A Mobile -- on Monday.
Earlier Friday, manager Chip Hale said it is realistic the 2015 All-Star could be back with the D-backs before Sept. 1.
