D-backs' Chafin trades city living for recreational vehicle
Andrew Chafin plays in the big leagues, but big-city living isn't for him.
The Diamondbacks reliever is living in a fifth-wheel toy hauler this spring, and will do so during the season.
"I'm a simple guys when it comes to what I need off the field," Chafin said.
Chafin gave FOX Sports Arizona a tour of his 42-foot home on wheels. The story was part of Tuesday night's 2016 debut episode of Cactus League Weekly.
Chafin is known as an aggressive pitcher when he's on the mound -- part of what helped him earn a spot on the team last season and then flourish in a setup role -- but he is much more laid back off it. So living in downtown last season just didn't fit the native of rural Ohio.
So he bought the toy hauler at the end of last season and in January loaded up his small fishing boat, "Baby Boat," and headed to Arizona.
"I like being out where it's quiet and I can get away and even be close to a lake," Chafin said. "Living in downtown Phoenix last season -- I could walk to the ballpark every day -- was not for me."
