Coyotes sign assistant coaches Playfair, Peters to extensions

The Arizona Coyotes announced Tuesday that they have signed assistant coaches Jim Playfair and Steve Peters to multi-year contract extensions.

Playfair's primary area of responsibility is defense.
"Jim has done an outstanding job developing our young defensemen and he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our bench," general manager John Chayka said. "We are thrilled to have him back for several more seasons."

Playfair is in his sixth season with the Coyotes, following 11 years in the Calgary Flames organization -- including one season as head coach.

Peters, 48, returns for his 20th season with the Coyotes as the team's assistant coach for video.

"Steve is one of the best video coaches in the NHL," Chayka said.
