Coyotes claim center Jooris off waivers

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Coyotes on Sunday claimed center Josh Jooris off waivers from the New York Rangers.

The 6-foot-1, 197-pound Jooris had a 1-1-2, a plus-one rating and six penalty minutes (PIM) in 12 games this season for New York. The 26-year-old native of Burlington, Ontario has 17-22-39 and 61 PIM in 131 career NHL games with the Rangers and Calgary Flames.

He registered a career-high 12-12-24 in 60 games with the Flames in 2014-15.

To make room for Jooris on the roster, the Coyotes assigned center Tyler Gaudet to the Tucson Roadrunners of the AHL.

Jooris joins Peter Holland, acquired in a trade from Toronto on Friday, as another centerman option for coach Dave Tippett.
