Cowboys take South Carolina LB with final pick

IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys used the 185th overall pick to draft South Carolina outside linebacker DeVonte Holloman. If the Cowboys do not make any trades this will be their final selection of the 2013 draft.

Holloman started 35-of-51 games at South Carolina, 22 at strong safety and 13 at linebacker. During his senior year, the 22-year-old recorded 57 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions.

Unhappy that he was still on the board in the sixth round, about an hour before he was selected, Holloman tweeted: "I will never forget this feeling…HELL TO PAY!"

According to his NFL.com draft bio, Holloman "could be a solid Saturday draft pick as a Sam 'backer, and a likely candidate to outplay his draft position."

His NFL.com current player comparison is Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway, a first-round pick in 2006.

Holloman was arrested and charged with DUI in 2011, causing him to miss the first two games of the season because of suspension.
