Corpus Christi play-by-plan man joining Rangers

Matt Hicks, who does radio play-by-play for the Corpus Christi Hooks, will begin working on the Texas Rangers radio broadcasts with Eric Nadel Saturday.

There is no timeframe on how long Hicks will be working with Nadel.

The move is in response to television play-by-play man Dave Barnett's absence from the team. Barnett hasn't worked with the club since June 18 after having a problem thought to be related to migraines on the air in San Diego.

Barnett is undergoing tests and was replaced by Steve Busby, who was working on the radio with Nadel. Bryan Dolgin replaced Busby and will now return to his pre and post-game radio duties.

The Rangers said there is no update on Barnett.
