Conor McGregor and Urijah Faber to coach new season of 'The Ultimate Fighter'

Following an emotionally charged performance at UFC 189, Irish superstar Conor McGregor is ready for his first stint as coach on 'The Ultimate Fighter' where he will go toe-to-toe with former WEC champion Urijah Faber on the new season of the show.

The new season of the show will pit Team Europe, coached by McGregor against Team USA coached by Faber.

The two fighters have a long standing grudge reaching back to McGregor's earliest days in the UFC when he targeted members of Faber's training partners at Team Alpha Male calling fighters such as Chad Mendes over inflated bantamweights trying to compete at 145 pounds.

Faber fired back with accusations that McGregor was just a quitter inside the Octagon and would crumble when someone finally put the right kind of pressure on him.

McGregor and Faber even had an altercation during UFC 189 fight week when they encountered one another backstage before the weigh-ins this past Friday.

Now they will settle their differences coaching the newest season of 'The Ultimate Fighter' set to begin filming this month in Las Vegas.

McGregor and Faber will not fight at the end of the season, as has been the case for coaches in prior seasons, due to McGregor having a title-unification bout with Jose Aldo already in the works.

The 32 lightweight fighters from the United States and Europe will fight their way into the house and then join their coaches with the winner of the tournament eventually earning a shot in the UFC.

The new season of 'The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber' will debut September 9th on FOX Sports 1.
