Congratulations Pour In After Darrell Wallace Jr.'s Historic NASCAR Win
Darrell Wallace Jr. celebrates his historic win at Martinsville Speedway.
When 20-year-old Darrell Wallace Jr. crossed the start-finish line Saturday at Martinsville Speedway, he not only scored his first career Camping World Truck Series victory, he also solidified his place NASCAR history.
The Kyle Busch Motorsports driver became only the second African-American to win in NASCAR's top three series, putting his name aside pioneer Wendell Scott. In fitting style, Wallace Jr.'s win came just down the road from Scott's hometown of Danville, Va.
In a race with drama unfolding on the track and in the garage, Wallace was able to battle hard with Ty Dillon in the closing laps of the race to drive away for his first career victory.
Almost immediately, the congratulatory tweets came flowing in from drivers, crew members and fans.
Wow another great @MartinsvilleSwy race with plenty of action. Happy for @BubbaWallace. Great win.
