Cincinnati QB Legaux has surgery on left knee

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Quarterback Munchie Legaux had surgery Friday to repair torn ligaments in his left knee after being injured during Cincinnati's 45-17 loss at Illinois last weekend.
The senior is finished for the season, but hopes to play eventually. Coach Tommy Tuberville said earlier in the week that there's optimism he could get a redshirt season and return next year.
Doctors found no fracture or other injuries to the leg.
Legaux's left knee got bent when he was hit while passing. He started the first two games while sixth-year senior Brendon Kay recovered from a sore passing shoulder. Kay will start on Saturday when Cincinnati (1-1) hosts Northwestern State (2-0) at Nippert Stadium.
Kay is the only quarterback on the Bearcats' roster with college experience.
