Chris Coghlan rejoins Marlins after lengthy DL stay
ATLANTA (AP) -- The Marlins activated outfielder Chris Coghlan from the disabled list Sunday and recalled pitchers Chris Hatcher and Zach Phillips from Triple-A New Orleans.
Coghlan, Hatcher, a right-hander, and Phillips, a left-hander, are with the team for Sunday's game against the Braves.
Coghlan was placed on the 15-day disabled list June 9 because of a right calf nerve irritation. Soon after he was placed on the DL, an MRI showed a back strain that was the more serious injury.
Manager Mike Redmond says he might give Coghlan a chance to play third base, where he played in the minors, as well as the outfield. He was not in Sunday's lineup.
Coghlan was hitting .277 with one homer and 10 RBIs before the injury.
