Chelsea set to hijack Manchester United's move for Pedro

Each day we'll bring you the very latest tabloid rumors as the biggest clubs around look to splash the cash to bolster their rosters. True or not, they're always entertaining...

Chelsea are likely to make a last-ditch bid to hijack Manchester United's move for Barcelona winger Pedro.

United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward held further talks with Barca officials in Spain on Monday and is said to be confident a deal will be done, however, Chelsea are ready to pounce.

Manchester City could also enter the race for Pedro if their long pursuit of Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin De Bruyne fails to pay off.

Fenerbahce are monitoring the contract situation of Chelsea captain John Terry, who was substituted at half-time by Jose Mourinho against Manchester City on Sunday.

Terry, 34, is into the final year of his current deal at Stamford Bridge and will be free to speak to overseas clubs if he has still not signed a new contract by January.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce are said to be willing to offer the central defender a big signing-on fee plus a £2.5million salary after tax to join the club on a Bosman free transfer next summer.

Arsenal enquired about the availability of Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski earlier this summer but were informed neither player would be allowed to leave the German champions.

That has led to the Gunners considering alternative options, including Real Madrid's Karim Benzema. Arsenal are expected to make another enquiry about Benezema before the transfer deadline.

Everton have agreed a £5million fee with River Plate for defender Ramiro Funes Mori.

Chelsea are considering making a fourth bid for Everton defender John Stones worth £40million.

The west Londoners' latest bid of £30million was rejected earlier this week as the Toffees maintain their stance that the young England international is not for sale.

However, the Blues could now increase their offer by a further £10million in a bid to seal the deal.

Chelsea want Everton central defender John Stones to force through a switch to Stamford Bridge and add that wingers Victor Moses and Bertrand Traore could be offered to Everton on season-long loans as part of the deal.

Manchester City are set to take their spending this summer through the £150million barrier with the signings of defender Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia and Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne.

Bournemouth are interested in signing striker Jermain Defoe from Sunderland.

West Bromwich Albion have told Tottenham Hotspur they want £25m for highly-rated striker Saido Berahino

Spurs have lined up QPR striker Charlie Austin as a straightforward alternative if a deal for Berahino cannot be agreed.

Former QPR midfielder Joey Barton is set to join Championship outfit Nottingham Forest on a free transfer.

Celtic want Swansea striker Michu to spearhead their European assault.
