Check out Izzo in 1977 coaching up high school kids at first job

We're a couple days away from Throwback Thursday but the time machine is ready early in light of these 1977 photos showing longtime Michigan Spartans skipper Tom Izzo during his first coaching gig at Ishpeming High School, which is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

He was 22 years old in 1977. Take a look (click either one to enlarge):

Izzo spent one season at Ishpeming, then became an assistant at Northern Michigan, then an assistant at Michigan State from 1983-95 before taking over as head coach.

The coach has amassed a stellar 494-198 record as head coach of the Spartans and won a national championship in 2000. His Michigan State bio page lists him as an eight-time national Coach of the Year winner, and this is the seventh team he has taken to the Final Four.

Plus, Izzo's still got most of his hair. Not bad.
