Carr expects to practice, should play against Dolphins

ARLINGTON, Texas - Brandon Carr is expected to return to practice on Tuesday.

And that's great news for a Dallas Cowboys team that is extremely thin at the cornerback position. Carr worked out on the field before Saturday's preseason game but he did not dress.

"I leave that all up to the coaches," Carr said when asked about when he'll return. "If they give me the green light, I'll hop in and be ready to go. Until then, I'm going to do whatever necessary to get myself ready to go in a game."

Carr missed the first three weeks of training camp to be by his mother's side before she passed away. Carr arrived in Oxnard, Calif. on Aug. 9. During his time with the team, Carr focused on individual training. He never participated in competitive drills.

That will likely change this week.

"I kept myself in good shape when I was away," Carr said. "I came back and got into even better shape, picked up the intensity. Now it's just time to go out there and see what I got for this year."

Are there any doubts he'll be on the field against Miami next Saturday?

"I don't know," Carr said. "I should be. I guess we'll see."
