Cardinals set rotation order; Lynn gets ball for home opener
The St. Louis Cardinals starting rotation order has been set. So let's take a look at where and when each starter will make their regular season debut.
Cardinals at Cubs
April 5: Adam Wainwright vs. Jon Lester
Wainwright's 2014 line: 20-9 with a 2.38 ERA and 179 strikeouts in 32 starts/227 innings.
April 7: Lance Lynn vs. TBD
Lynn’s 2014 line: 15-10 with a 2.74 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 33 starts/203 2/3 innings.
April 8: John Lackey vs. TBD
Lackey’s 2014 line: 14-10 with a 3.82 ERA and 164 strikeouts in 31 starts/198 innings.
Cardinals at Reds
April 10: Michael Wacha vs. TBD
Wacha’s 2014 line: 5-6 with a 3.20 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 19 starts/107 innings.
April 11: Carlos Martinez vs. TBD
Martinez’s 2014 line: 2-4 with a 4.03 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 57 games/7 starts/89 1/3 innings.
And with the rotation set up as is, Lynn is scheduled to get the ball when the Cardinals come home to Busch Stadium for the first time April 13 against the Brewers. Things could change, of course, with factors like rain and Wrigley Field looking like a demolition site, but for now Lynn is the guy. First pitch for the home opener is set for 3:15.
