Cardinals recall right-handed reliever Tuivailala

The St. Louis Cardinals announced Tuesday that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Sam Tuivailala from Triple A Memphis.

Tuivailala will be joining the major league club for the fifth time this season. In 11 prior games with St. Louis, the righty went 0-1 with a 1.64 ERA. After allowing single runs in his first two appearances, he currently has a nine-game scoreless streak (nine innings) with the Cardinals. His last appearance with St. Louis came on Aug. 29 at San Francisco, tossing one scoreless inning. At Memphis, Tuivailala was 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA and 17 saves in 43 games.
