Cardinals moving training camp to Glendale?

Speaking at Glendale's State of the City event Thursday night, Cardinals president Michael Bidwill made an unexpected announcement, according to the Arizona Republic: The team is close to an agreement to move training camp -- which has been held in Flagstaff every year since the team's arrival in Arizona in 1988 -- to Glendale.

According to the report, Bidwill said the move would allow more accessibility for the team's fans, who currently must make the three-hour trek north to get a glimpse of camp. The team would practice at University of Phoenix Stadium rather than outdoors, a must given the 100-plus-degree temperatures in August in the Valley.

The Cards' Flagstaff camp location has been one of the few traditions maintained throughout their history 25-year history in Arizona, but the team's contract with Northern Arizona University expired last year.

Bidwill told those in attendance that a deal with Glendale has not yet been finalized but is close, the report said.

As for Glendale's other team, there was no update provided at the meeting on the Coyotes' status.
